Welcome to North Park's "Relay for Life" web page. We have information on various types of cancer, information about the event as well as a form so you can register online! The Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life is a community based event in which teams of 10 participants walk, run or stroll around a track to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society to support research and services for people living with cancer. This 12-hour, non-competitive event brings together family, friends, neighbours, survivors and volunteers to celebrate survivors and to honour those who have lost their battle against cancer.
The Relay starts with the Survivors' Victory Lap, a moving ceremony where cancer survivors take to the track to officially start the event. Team members then join in, running, jogging or walking. Later in the evening, a Luminary candle Ceremony honours the memory of loved ones. At dusk, the candles are lit in a moving ceremony, providing light and inspiration as participants walk through the night.
